BUSINESSES REGISTER NOW - DEADLINE FOR BUSINESSES TO REGISTER IS DECEMBER 6th!

***This event supports recruitment efforts in the Southern Tier Region of NY.  This includes Chenango, Delaware, Otsego, Chemung, Schuyler, Steuben, Tioga, Tompkins, and Broome counties***

There will be a preview day on Wednesday, December 15th, where jobseekers can view content and job postings and prepare themselves for the “live” event.  The Virtual Career Fair will go live on December 16th from 11:00 am to 2:00 pm.

Following receipt of exhibiting businesses registrations, businesses will receive an email containing deadlines, important links for accessing the event, login credentials to “create” your booth and a Virtual Career Fair Exhibitors Guide.  This guide details information about the event, gives helpful tips and answers many frequently asked questions.  Department of Labor staff will be available throughout the process to help you with overall technical assistance.

The Workforce Development Board of Herkimer, Madison and Oneida Counties (WDB/HMO), Inc., is recruiting for two Disability Resource Coordinators (DRCs)!

One DRC will provide capacity building services throughout Herkimer, Madison & Oneida (HMO) Counties and the other will provide capacity building services throughout Chenango, Delaware and Otsego (CDO) Counties. The HMO DRC will be based in Utica, NY. The CDO DRC can be based in either Norwich, NY, or Oneonta, NY.

These positions are a full time, three year opportunity funded through New York State Department of Labor and their partners.

The salary will be $45 – 50,000 per year with benefits, including health insurance, retirement fund matching up to 6%, 35 hour work week, 2 weeks’ vacation and dental insurance.

Reimbursed travel required throughout each three county area. Must have dependable transportation.

The Women in Apprenticeship and Nontraditional Occupations (WANTO) Grant Program Announces a Free Women-Focused Virtual Job Fair!

Utica, NY – The Women in Apprenticeship and Nontraditional Occupations (WANTO) grant program is hosting a women-focused virtual job fair on November 3, 2021, from 11:00AM – 1:00PM. The goal of the job fair is to help women gain employment in nontraditional occupations, which is defined by the U.S. Department of Labor as any industry in which females make up 25% or less of the workforce.

The WANTO program, administered by the Workforce Development Board, Herkimer, Madison and Oneida Counties, Inc., focuses on helping women gain employment in nontraditional occupations primarily in the informational technology, advanced manufacturing, trades, agriculture, and transportation sectors.

“Nontraditional careers for women have a great deal of opportunity for women to grow and achieve self-sustainability,” says Stephanie Heiland, WANTO Project Director. “By providing women with training and helping to connect them to employers, WANTO hopes to create a more inclusive and equitable workforce.”

WANTO serves the following seventeen counties: Broome, Chenango, Delaware, Fulton, Hamilton, Herkimer, Jefferson, Lewis, Madison, Montgomery, Oneida, Onondaga, Otsego, Schoharie, St. Lawrence, Tioga, and Tompkins. Job seekers and employers throughout the entire 17-county region are invited to register.

Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Reporting to the Board of Directors and its Executive Committee, the CEO advances the Chamber vision, leads the mission, builds revenues, and grows membership. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Under the broad supervision of the Executive Committee and Board of Directors, the CEO will be responsible for the following: Advancing the vision, mission and core values of the Chamber. Planning and conducting membership recruiting, sustainment and support. Oversee and or participate in researching, writing, and administering grants that support Chamber goals. Implementing systems that support Chamber members. Implementing and refreshing the Chamber Strategic Plan. Meeting or exceeding budgeted financial metrics. Embracing technology and emerging trends to help the Chamber meet its strategic goals. Required Background and Experience: Desirable Qualities and Characteristics Suitable candidates for the position of CEO will have a proven track record in executive leadership, strategic planning and implementation, Board management, membership development, economic development, budget and operational management, legislative and community advocacy, relationship building, and staff management. In addition, all candidates will be expected to have the following: Bachelor Degree from an accredited college or university. Seven to ten years of progressively responsible leadership experience, preferably with a membership organization, chamber of commerce or business advocacy organization; comparable experience in private business sector is acceptable. Demonstrated success in a membership association the size of the Chamber with proven ability to develop new membership levels. Strong organizational and strategic skills; ability to plan strategically and think tactically. Prior experiences in strategic planning in cooperation with a governing Board a plus. Successful track record for engaging, partnering and building alliances with a wide range of constituencies and influencers; strong relationship-building skills. Prior experience with successful grant applications including research, writing, and administration. High degree of skills and experience in effective financial management and media relations, including social media. A successful track record as a proactive advocate for an organization; working knowledge of legislative and political processes and environments. Ability to represent the Chamber vision, mission, goals, and outcomes to Board members, government agencies, and industry leaders. Experience aligning diverse interest groups on issues and opportunities that will benefit the overall business community. Superior verbal and written communication skills and confidence as a public speaker. the size of the Chamber, including budget development and financial statement interpretation. "To fully support your recruitment efforts, there will be a preview day on Wednesday, October 20th, where jobseekers can view content and job postings and prepare themselves for the “live” event. The Virtual Career Fair will go live on Thursday, October 21st from 11:00 am to 2:00 pm.

Following receipt of exhibiting businesses registrations, businesses will receive an email containing deadlines, important links for accessing the event, login credentials to “create” your booth and a Virtual Career Fair Exhibitors Guide. This guide details information about the event, gives helpful tips and answers many frequently asked questions.
